[Opinions] Emaleigh
what are your thoughts on the name Emaleigh?

Bad.
Bad. I'm sorry, but it looks ignorant, like the person didn't know how to spell it. Or like someone was trying too hard to make it 'different'. No matter how you spell it, it's still saying Emily, so you might as well spell it correctly for her sake.

It's terrible! Just stick with Emily, it's far more classy.
To me it's trashy... I prefer Emily, although I would choose one of these:
Emeline (eh-muh-leen / ehm-leen)
Amalia / Amalie (ah-mah-lyah / ah-mah-lyeh)
Aemilia
Imelda
Emma Lee

Its yet another bad spelling of a lovely classic name
Why do I think its bad
1) Emily is such a popular name that the majority of people know how it is spelt so a girl with this name will be forever correcting everyone when they assume the Emily spelling
2) Emaleigh is a very creative spelling that is only different on paper, try going to a playground full of children and call Emaleigh and you will find that all the many many little girls called Emily, Emaleigh, Emalee, Emmaleigh, Emilee and more will come running, so a creative spelling of a very popualr name doesnt make the child unique or different
3) Emaleigh will still be Emaleigh B In a class with other Emily/whatever spellings so being creative wont help to single her out, we say a name aloud far more than we write it down.
4) This might bother some children more than others, it annoys my daughter no end when she sees the little nicknacks with names printed on them, half the time you can only find Katherine and her name is Catherine, think how it will be for Emaleigh, sure you can send away to have things specially printed but why go to all the trouble when Emily is always on the pencils, keyrings excetra
5)It always puzzles me why if a person wants to be creative and really give their child an unusual name they dont just find a pretty rarely used name that will stand out from the crowd, rather than a creative spelling of a very very popular name

To be honest, I think it's awful. No one will ever spell her name correctly, and it just looks unnecessarily cluttered.

I could see you with an Emaleigh actually, although I don't really care for the spelling.
Much prefer Emily
I see no advantage to having a super-popular name but in a weird spell. It seems to me it has all the disadvantages of being common PLUS all the disadvantages of having to be spelled out for people all the time.
Emily is a nice classic name. Don't fix what ain't broken.

Can we say spelling problems for the child
It's a nice, classic name that is used frequently when spelled Emily. I don't like the Emaleigh spelling simply because she will have to spell it out for everyone her entire life.
Don't like it, sorry.

Ambiguous and not worth the trouble.
With only one M, it looks like maybe the first two syllables should sound like EE-muh rather than EH-muh.
Array (has no patience with people who pussyfoot around with kreeaytif spellings of popular names, as though it'll set the kids apart; maybe that's not you--maybe Emaleigh just is aesthetically appealing--but that's what the name says to her)
...And then he said, "You're independent, aren't you?"
"Yes," said Laura.
A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having.

Ditto everything Array says here!

I second (or should it be third) that
And on top of that, Emily is such a lovely name when it's written out.

Misspelt.
It looks really, really illiterate to me.
And please use proper captialization. Your sentence should have read: What are your thoughson the name Emaleigh?

I think what you meant to say was "What are your thoughts on the name Emaleigh?"

We all know she has problems these days... Let's not pay attention to her.

What she said to you the other day was wrong, but this isn't a proper response, either.

I try to.
But I'm going to miss things - no matter how hard I try. Try having a mind that moves at lightening speed combined with several LDS.
I shouldn't have thrown a stone, but it's not like I don't try, and try hard, to make sure my posts are readable. Hence the reason I use caps. and proper punucation - it makes it easier for people to decipher my sometimes hard to read posts.

Exactly. The original poster missed one small detail, a single capital letter. It could have been a simple typo. Was it really worth calling her on it?

OK, first of all, don't assume that my mind works any slower than yours.
What is LDS? The only thing I can find about it is the Church of Latter Day Saints? From the way you're talking, I assume it has something to do with your speedy mind. Regardless, that was awkward, like you think you have super-powers compared to my inferior brain function or something. We're all going to miss things, but that can easily be remedied by logging in so that you can later edit.
I agree with your original message, she should use caps and punctuation properly, but there was some irony in the way it happened.
Edited because I thought I'd share my amusement. When I first read that, I thought you put "LSD." I was going to say! That's not something I'd share online, but it would certainly account for a racing mind and unnoticed typos. :)

Um.
By lightening speed, I mean I'm ADHD - so I do things so quickly I don't have time to think. That wasn't an insult. LDS are learning disabilities.
As for picking on her: I noticied a few posts where she hadn't done this.

Learning disabilities are not an excuse for laziness. It takes a minute to rescan a post for typos.
