There was a girl on my sister's old softball team called Sonny. I'm 99% sure her given name was Allison. I know for a fact it ended in -son. Anyway, I think it's kind of cool. It's not something you'd hear every day. However, it kind of defeats the purpose of having a girl's name. Son = Boy in my opinion. I do like Allison, but Ally for short may have been more suitable. Maybe there were too many Ally's in her class and she wanted to be different?

I prefer Sunny for a girl; Sonny is all-boys to me.

I love Sonny/Sunny only on a girl, i really love Sunny for a boy, i think its bright and cheery. I prefer Allie on a boy too.
