[Opinions] Albany?
I love this name. I saw a girl on tv a few minutes ago with this name. I know it's the capital of New York, but I think it's a cute and grown-up name. She go go by the nick names Alby or Abby. WDYT?

I think most place names that have not historically been used as names (unlike Virginia or Georgia, for example) just sound very silly as names. :-/

I think of Albany, Ga & Albany, NY. I don't like it as a name at all.

When I hear Albany I think New York. As a name I totally connect Albany with the city. As I've never been to Albany I can't say whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.

No thanks. I think it's carrying the place names thig a bit too far.
Some of my husband's family is from Albany GA, and down there it is usually pronounced "All-Benny.

As a current NY state resident, I have to discourage this. I can't see Albany as a name for anything other than a city. I don't find it either cute or grown up, but rather somewhat ridiculous, like naming a child Indiana. But that's just one person's opinion. ;o)Check Out Blinkyou.com for thousands of custom glitters and layouts
