That's how I pronounce Ophelia, hehe. My daughter Sophia Ophelia Seraphina is six years old today (August 11, 2006). We call her Sophie. But I pronounce Ophelia, seriously, as oFEELya. Three syllables, not four.

I say oh-FEEL-yuh, and where I live, at least, I think it'd come off as pretentious to insist upon oh-FEE-lee-uh. You could get away with it in Britain, but not Wisconsin. ;)

I've always said it the second way. I don't like the database way, although they are similar.

I think both are fine, especially because if I say O-FEE-lee-uh at a normal pace it comes across as beign very close to O-FEEL-ya anyways.

o-FEEl-ee-a is pretty, but I've always said/heard it o-FEEL-ya, so it sounds wrong to me.

I pronounce it o-FEEL-ya, and so does everyone I know, bit if you pronounced it the way you like, people may follow along. I feel with small differences in pronunciation like that sometimes you can't even really tell.

I say o-FEEL-yah. The ending is generally how I pronounce most names ending in -lia. I think the other way of pronouncing it "lee-a" just makes the name seem more difficult and fussy.

Where do you live? The majority in English speaking countries would have almost everyone prounce it like you do. Including me :)
