[Opinions] Warning: rant
I like a lot of surnames too. I think Kinsella would make a very pretty girl's name. But I wouldn't ever use it because I have no Kinsellas in my family. Now, my mother's mn is Murphy. That might make a funky fn for a boy. Plus, it would warm my family's collective hearts. See the difference? Traditionally, the whole point of using a surnames as a fn is to pass down heritage. When people start opening up the telephone book and using it as an a la carte menu, the practice loses its beauty and meaning. It becomes tacky. Like someone buying a book because it looks nice on a shelf, but never reading it. It's just shallow.Sorry to go on and on. This is just a pet peeve of mine.Sodero would be a great fn, if it's from your family tree.
