[Opinions] Bambi
I know I posted on Bambi before, but I recently saw an older lady probably in her 50's or 60's named Bambi.
I know many people associate it with hookers, or something. Although I have never came across a person like that named Bambi. I personally think any name can be associated with those type of people if that's their stage, or real name (I don't pay attention to any of that though) I barely know who the playboy bunnies are. Does it really matter though? It's not like my child would become one just because of her name. I also feel that if someone would think that of an innocent child just because of her name it's pretty sad. I know children will make fun of them for anything, but I doubt they will know what prostitues or strippers are in 2nd grade. Even if she got older, I'm sure she will learn to deal with the cruel jokes (by adults too), as I have, and many others who have had unusual names. Back in my days at school Sabrina was very uncommon just to let you know.
I really do like the name Bambi, I don't think I'd never use it, but I still like it.
WDYT? I think it can age well despite it's meaning. My dad was like how about Bambi, and Flower? LOL. I was like don't start cause I actually do like Flower also.

I'm afraid that although the use of Bambi as a girls' name in the USA actually predates the children's story about the deer (which itself was written long before Disney turned it into a cartoon), it is probably the most "blonde bimbo" stereotyped name in modern American culture, so I'd find it difficult to apply to a real child. If you really, really love the name and have good reasons for it other than "I just like the way it sounds" that can help make your daughter proud of it, go ahead an use it, but know that this is one name you will have to work hard to ensure that the teasing your daughter gets doesn't get to be too much for her.
Ironically, the only woman named Bambi I ever met personally was a rather masculine-dressing out-and-proud lesbian. :)

I know a woman named Bambi, I guess she is about 28. Also, my screen name nearly everywhere except here is BambiJo. So I kind of like it, but would never, ever use it.
But since I do have a certain fondness for it, I wouldn't be appalled if someone else used it. BUT NOT WITH FLOWER! That's awful, and mean. If you must use Flower, go with Fleur or Daisy or something.

I know a woman who's in her late 40's with this name and she is the typical bleached blond, New York accent, chain smoking, BITTER divorced woman...
BLECH.
Plus, in the movie Bambi's mother dies... I wouldn't want to even go there Karma-wise. KWIM?

I think maybe it's associated with strippers, etc. because it sounds like bimbo, and also because tv shows and movies have perpetuated that connotation for this name by naming promiscuous/ ditsy characters Bambi. I think of the deer and cartoons and bimbos. People will not actually think that a child IS promiscuous because of the name, but the connotation may be transferred to the person who named them, and also the child will grow up at some point. I just think it's a bad idea all around because it has an extremely strong association, at least in the American culture.
I don't like it because it reminds me of a deer.
Loving Theodore and Chloe!
Let's just keep it as a guilty pleasure. :b I actually had a friend in jr. high with a younger sister named Bambi, but I didn't know her very well personally. That's the only "real" person I've met with the name, but I think it's definitely too associated with the deer (and strippers, unfortunately) to the point where people might be overly distracted by her name and not take her seriously. :-/

Sickeningly cute . . .
I've never considered it a stripper/prostitue name or anything of that sort.
It's short for the Italian word "bambina" ("little girl") and it's the name of an extremely cute cartoon deer. To me it screams "Barbie-Doll" name, the kind of name given by a parent who envisions their little girl as always being a little girl and never growing up. There's no scope for maturity or respect in it.
Not for me, thanks.

Lol, yeah, I probably worry far too much about what people will think. Not people in general usually, but definitely family members! And since I have a really big extended family, that's a lot of people to worry about :-/
