[Opinions] Re: WDYTO Dresden?
As someone who lived in Germany (independently, e.g. not affiliated with military) I never could. Bombing doesn't cover it. It was nearly blown off the planet. 80% destroyed and tens of thousands of civilans died. Obviously it is a vibrant city today, but things like the famous cathedral (Frauenkirche) only reopened last year! I defend the rights of parents to name children what they wish and objectively even like the sound of the word, but this one has a bit too much recent historical importance for me to feel easy about. This is still in some people's living memory. I would say it's at best ill-advised, at worst blatantly disrespectful.
