[Opinions] Elvis?
I know many people would obviously think of Elvis Presley, but I don't care [I do like him]. Suprisingly though I didn't get the name from him. I got it from someone else who's a musician. Elvis Perkins [Anthony Perkins' son]. I know someone an another board who has a little boy named Elvis.
I really like the name, it's nice. I don't think I could really bring myself to use it but WDYT anyways? Any MN suggestions for fun?

I really like the name Elvis. I am an Elvis fan though, so that might have something to do with it! I think maybe these days you could get away with using it, because he died so long ago now. I like the combos:Elvis Aaron (But very Elvis Presley related)
Elvis Gideon
Elvis Ryan
Elvis Matthew
Elvis Nathaniel
Elvis Charlie
Elvis Benjamin
Elvis Daniel
Elvis Jude
Elvis Jeremiah
Elvis Toby
Elvis Remy

I think it is too tied to Elvis Presley...it would be everyone's first reaction. My second reaction would be Elvis Costello. Either way I would probably think the parent of any Elvis was a die hard fan and would feel sorry for the kid.Elvis Rain
Elvis Zachariah
Elvis Jamison
Elvis Berlin
Elvis Drake
Elvis Cale
Elvis VikingAny you like?

I don't like the combination of the sound 'El' with 'vis'. I don't really like the prefix 'El' on any male name (eg Elton). I find it too pretty and feminine. So that combined with the unusual 'vis' suffix makes it a pretty unattractive name to me.

I also think of Elvis Stoilijko (and that could easily be wrongly spelled)-the famous Canadian figure skater, now retired from competition. What a guy!

For better or for worse, when I hear Elvis my first thought is Elvis Presley. Since that association doesn't bother you it shouldn't matter.Elvis ________

Honestly, if there weren't many famous associations with it, I wouldn't see any appeal in it at all. It's okay, but like you said, it's something I couldn't bring myself to use. I do kind of like Alvis, though.

I like Elvis quite a bit. It's just a great-sounding name. You would have to be comfortable with people assuming you mean it as an Elvis homage, though, to use it. I would probably get too annoyed by explaining to people that it isn't to use it, but that's up to you.

I like it--good sound, good associations, etc.The fact that I can think of three famous people called Elvis off the top of my head implies to me that it's useable enough.Array
