Someone my mother knows named her newborn Linda Joy. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard the baby's name. It's refreshing and pretty. WDYT?

I don't know if Linda is quite ready to be refreshing on a newborn. Names naturally come back round when, frankly, their previous generation has all died. (Hence the new cycle of Victorian names, Ruby, Ivy, Lily etc.) If they're used earlier than that, they can seem out of sync.
Incidentally, the youngest Linda I know is 19, and it fits her fine. But on a newborn, I don't know.

My mom's name is Linda. I don't really care for it though and I have a hard time seeing it on a little girl. But it does seem to be making a comeback, I'm suprised by how many younger girls I see named Linda or Lynda.

I think it is *very* pretty! A nice combo too, and what a meaning!
You deinitely don't see Linda on young girls very much these days. Not like it was back in the fifities and sixties. My stepfather Larry has a twin sister named Linda, they were born in 1950. He says there were four other Larrys in his graduating class (none named Lawrence either; he was the only one without a middle name.) And Linda says there were even more Lindas than Larrys.
So little Linda Joy will at least never have to wonder which Linda is being called in school, though if she's around a lot of middle-aged adults there might be some confusion. :)

It is a nice change from the usual BA's, but it's not one of my favorite names. The "duh" sound at the end is particularly strong for me. Definitely a nice change of pace, though.

It's quite baby-boomer-esque, but you're right, it is quite refreshing. Apparently it's "pretty" as well, considering Linda's meaning, tehe.
