I seem to be heavily in the minority, but I far prefer
Imogene (with the pronunciation difference the end E implies) to
Imogen, which has always just sounded ugly to me.
Imogene reminds me of
Imogene Herdman of
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, whom I always liked a lot, despite her many flaws. ;)
I mean,
Imogen is perfectly respectable and would serve a child and adult well. I just don't like it.
