Is Kashmir too odd to use for a male name? I generally don't like place naming all that much, and Kashmir has so much baggage along with it. (From all of the political dispute over the region)
I know that there are similarly spelt - a quick search on BtN shows this list.
CASIMIR m English
CASIMIRO m Spanish, Portuguese, Italian
KASIMIR m
KASIMIRA f
KAZIMERAS m Lithuanian
KAZIMIERA f Polish
KAZIMIERZ m Polish
KAZIMIR m Russian
KÁZMÉR m Hungarian
None of them are from the same word for the region, that I can tell.
So, I would like to know if it is too trendy or weird. It's not really something that I would normally go for, but I like it. Just deciding to use a place name as a human name, but I can't help it in this case. : -/
Edited to add - Would people associate it with the goat hair from Kashmir? That's usually spelt Cashmere though.
