[Opinions] Myriah
I really like Mariah--I think it's just a snappy little name--but I think I prefer Myriah, which I'd prn. meer-EYE-ah.WDYT? The meer and ma sounds seem different enough that people would be able to grasp the difference--do you think they'd be able to, or am I overly hopeful? And what do you think of it in general? Would it be better to spell it Miriah, or do you think people would try to say MEER-ee-ah for that?Just please don't suggest Moriah as a replacement; that's the one in the trio that I plain old don't like. ;)Array

Hmm ... it is a tough call. Honestly, I think some people might just skim over the y and still pronounce it like Mariah (but once they were corrected I think they would get it and say it right). I don't typically like y's in names because they often make them look trendy--but clearly that is not the case here; it is a completely different name, not a trendy spelling variation. I would not spell it Miriah, however, because I think most people will see the "Miri" and start to say Meer-ee-ah. Personally, I prefer Mariah because Myriah just doesn't roll off my tongue the same way.

Sorry to say but this looks like a kree8tiv spelling of Mariah to me. I think I've even seen it before in the BA's recently, and that's what I assumed it was. :-/ I know the beginning sounds would be prn. differently, but it's not a huge difference, imo. And Ms. Carey has ruined Mariah for me. :(
