What do you think of Judith?
I am taking a "Women f the bible class, so, for fun, I will be posting the names as we learn about them...
Judith has an entire book in the Apocrypha; it is fictional, meant to be a moral story. She is an extremely pious widow who takes it upon herself to "save her people" from warfare and inevitable demise by assasinating the leader of a nation trying to take over her own.

I love the name Judith! It's definitely been creeping up on my lit lately, and I'm glad to see someone bring it up. I like Judith much better than Judy . . . do you think the nn is inevitable? Perhaps I'll use it as a middle name. I have a dear family friend, who is like a second mother to me, named Judith so I'd love to honor her!

I love Judy, so I would use it as a nn, but I dont' think it's inevitable, if you don't want it to be.

I really like it, but that is because it is my mother's name. So I'm a bit biased. : p

Judith is a secret favourite of mine. So underrated & underused.

I think it's lovely. It might work better as a mn for now, as I think it might get rude comments as an old lady name, even though its history makes it a classic (to me, at least).

It's a beautiful name. I've always liked the Book of Judith (yay, Apocrypha!) a great deal.
I also like the nn Judy, as in "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" by CSNY.

I adore the name Judith! I really never new that story about her...just makes the name better.
