What's your source? I would think Shasta derives ultimately from the rather primitive Indian tribe of the same name in Northern California, whence came the name of Mt. Shasta. Other sources say the name of the place may have derived from Russian "tshastal" or French "chaste", both meaning "pure".
I haven't seen any meaning alluding to "three", tho, but it's possible, I guess.
