[Opinions] Re: Italian names from dh's family, comment!
MALE
Lorenzo [Hebrew name Ishai ee-shy, see Jesse] - Lorenzo...not nmsaa. Ishai is beautiful.
Guido [Hebrew name Binyamin Mordechai] - I cannot take the name Guido seriously. Binyamin I don't care for, Mordechai I love (mainly for the biblical character)
Paolo - I love this!
Andrea - I love this, too bad it's feminine in the US
Stefano - Eh. Nms
Gino - I really like this, wouldn't fly in the US
Isacco (ee-sah-coh) [H. name Yitzhak] - Isacco is really cool, I love Yitzhak
Leone - NMS
Beniamino [H. name Binyamin] - Eh. I prefer Benjamin
Mario Giacobbe [H. name Yaakov] -In the US, most people would mispronounce Mario. I just recently discovered it's mare-ee-o, not MAR-ee-o. Giacobbe I don't really like, Yaakov I do.
Salvatore - Very cool, and I'd use it if I could.
Giulio - It's okay for someone elseFEMALE
Laura [H. name Lea, leh-ah] - Laura, yes. Lea, leh-ah, No.
Clotilde (kloh-teel-deh, see Clothilde) - Too old-fashioned for me, and not attractive sounding
Franca - Francesca, yes. Franca, no.
Gina - Very over-used in the US...too dated as well
Vittoria - I love this.
Cesira (tsheh-see-rah) - It's hard for me to pronounce, but I really like it.
Clara - I just dislike this. I can't help but see a cow
Clelia - I've no idea how to pronounce it: therefore no comment
Celeste - I've always loved this name, especially pronounced the Italian way. Lovely and simple.Really neat names!
