i just wanted to point out tha the name kalliope actually means "beautiful eyes" in greek and not beautiful voice. she was a muse indeed but the word comes from kalli(which means beautiful) and opi (which means a hole, an eye). thank you!!!

Opi does mean "opening, hole" in Greek, which has created some confusion regarding Kalliope's etymology.
In fact however, Kalliope is derived from kali ("beautiful")and the noun "ops" (voice). The feminine dative of "ops" is "opi".
Homer uses both word "opi" and "kali" in a different context in Odyssey 10.221. "Kirkes aidouses opi kalei", i.e., "Circe sings with a beautiful voice".
