I didnt think of Lenin until you mentioned it. I think most people, at least in the US would think John Lennon.
If you are going for a tribute to J.L. then its okay. I would say use John, but its so common, it wouldnt work too well for people to recognize right away. Its surnamey, so I dont care for it, but I am not completely against it like some others.
If you like it, and want to make sure people know you are honoring J.L., I say it works great, and for you to use it.
