I pronounce Lennon and Lenin differently (len-nun vs len-in) so, no, I don't think of Lenin when I see Lennon.
I think of John Lennon (so, good, if that's what the attention is), the fact that one of the Oasis (Gallagher) brothers has a son called Lennon (Liam, I think), who, I believe, was also named because of John Lennon.
It's all right, not a favourite but the nn Len or Lennie would be cute.
