I tried to find out something about the name, but without luck. My problem was that Google is nearly worthless as a source of information here because it cannot distinguish between "Ital" and "ital.", the latter being the German abbreviation of "italienisch", to be found on thousands of pages and drowning any information about a name Ital.
A search in the Swiss online telephone directory for the name

shows around 20 people with this name. 20 people in whole Switzerland is of course tiny; it might be that Ital was only popular hundreds of years ago, which would make the hunt for information about the name all the more difficult.
