Several websites I found suggest that Añas derives directly from the Quechua word for "skunk" (Not as awful as it sounds--one explanation was that the Inca people consider the skunk a symbol of a solitary, independent woman--which I find pretty cool, and probably a more desirable image than the whole Pepe LePew thing:) )
