There are at least three different origins of the surname PORA:
ROMANIAN: this surname exists in BUCAREST but to me the origin is not
clear
SPANISH: it comes probably from a nickname that means "puerro"
from "poireau".
ITALIAN:Extremely rare but PORA could have come from Calabria. But now
Pora families are not more than ten in the whole of Italy.

I looked up the French and Spanish on a translation site ...the French origin means 'onion' while the Spanish means a 'leek' which is basically a type of onion ...
