Regardless of where I see it, I pronounce it Kai-day (to rhyme with Friday), but that's because I speak Jpns. and am aware that it's Jpns... Other people would do things differently...
If you're thinking in terms of using it as a name, I do think it's a good one... esp. with Dominic if it's a boy or Dominga or Dominique if it's a girl.
