It's my first choice for a middle name for a son.
I'm not huge on Pip. Pippin is ok but if it weren't for Merry and Pippin I wouldn't like it at all. If I used Peregrine as a first name I'd probably go with Per or maybe Perrin as a nickname (although I'd be more likely to use Perrin on its own).
