Art is an old Irish name used as a cognate for Arthur.
I love it and would consider using it,probably on it's own.
My dh's great-grandfather was called Art.
I don't think of Art as in made by the artist when I hear it;rather it has Celtic/Arthurian associations for me.

I didn't know that Art-by-itself was an old Irish name -- that's neat! :)
