Eudoxia, "yoo-DOX-ia," has been a guilty pleasure of mine since I began studying Russian history.
Eudoxia was
Peter the Great's first wife. The only down side to this name is the obvious nn Doxie. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a doxie a slang term for a prostitute?
For this reason,
Eudocia has always struck me as a happy alternative to
Eudoxia. Nn Doci / Dosie is darling.
The Greek form of this name is gorgeous as well:
Evdokia, "ev-duh-KEE-a." So elegant it hurts.
"Eu-" names have a fascination for me as well.
My favorite at the moment is
Eugenia /
Eugenie, but they all call to me. :-)
