Ok, but if they needed an X initial they could have picked something like Xanthe or Xenia, though making sure a storm had a tasteful name probably wasn't their top priority.

LOL, yeah I'm sure they had different problems.
Also, I think I read that there are different lists for different parts of the world. Maybe this is the spelling used in Spanish or Portuguese.

Yes, you are right, the names are different for different areas.
I live in east-coast Canada, and we hear a lot about storms along the Atlantic coast; happily, few of them reach us.
These are alphabetically named, and the names are alternately male and female. Or, what a non-name nerd would consider male and female!
