I don't like it. It just looks like a surname and I don't think it is at all useable in real life. What nicknames would you use ? (I think its far to long for day-to-day use really)
For some reason the T looks weird - I spent a while working out whether it was spelt wrong somehow. Also it looks like the word "squatter" to me.

I think Main would be a great nn. I think it would get misspelled/heard/read as Quartermain, though. I thought that's what the character's name was until I saw it written down once.
