I think people are being too harsh. People use word names all the time. Cashmere has comforting and precious connotations.

Also it can be considered an alternate spelling of Kashmir, which is a place, or an anglicization of Casimir/Kasimira, etc.

I wouldn't mind meeting a Cashmere, but I think I prefer Kashmir personally.
