[Opinions] Re: Candace?
If it wasn't for my sister, Candis, I don't think I'd care much for the name. Seems dated, like to the 60s or 70s. But my sister and I are very close and I plan on using Candis--crazy spelling and all, lol--as a mn for my first daughter. Btw, her name is kre8tivlee spelled because she's named after our aunt Candis (and we're pretty sure our dad's parents just didn't know the "correct" ways of spelling it :-/). The name, and spelling even, really suits her. Family and old friends all call her Candi, which she really dislikes, but it just stuck. :b Her full name is Candis Eloise, Eloise also being a family name. Candace Eloise / Heloise is nice, imo.

Like Isla, I have sentimental reasons for preferring this spelling (my best friend Candis Marie). For myself, however, I have used it in stories and prefer Candace in such cases, if only to set Candis on a pedestal above Candace - "there can be only one..." *LOL* My favorite Candace creation of my own is a character called Candace RaeAnne Sharpe (she's an African American professional vocalist). My RL Candis gets called Candi sometimes, occasionally even by me - it slips out naturally, how can you help yourself? - but truthfully doesn't like it too much.~Lillian~
