I guess that it's Gates McFadden (Dr: Crusher on Star Trek: TNG) you think about. Gates would be her mn, since her fn is really Cheryl.

yeh that is who I was think of. I did not know her name was Cheryl. I don't like the name Cherly. Thank you for telling me.

I think her stage name have been Gates McFadden, since she moved into acting I think.
She was a muppeteer and movement coordinator, for Jim Henson, before moving really into acting.
