Old Frisian

Old Frisian is the ancestor of the Frisian languages. It was spoken until about the 16th century. It is descended from the Germanic languages spoken in northern Germany and the Netherlands.

Within the Germanic languages, Old Frisian is classified as Ingvaeonic, related to Old English and Old Saxon.
