Old Saxon

Old Saxon (or Old Low German) is the ancestor of Low German. It was spoken until about the 12th century. It is descended from the Germanic languages spoken in northern Germany and the Low Countries.

Within the Germanic languages, Old Saxon is classified as Ingvaeonic, related to Old English and Old Frisian.
