It is also worth noting that in Romanian, Moldova can refer to both the subregion in Romania (that in English, is known as western moldavia) and the country itself, AND the entire combined region. In English, "Moldavian" is typically used to refer to the Romanian subregion, and the combination of western Moldavia and Moldova. Using "Moldavia" for modern Moldova in English writing is wrong and at best, old-fashioned.
