Nantes is a settlement in France , founded in 70BC.
The name Nantes comes from the Gallic tribe Namnetes.
Namnetes names is uncertain , but may have came from the Gaulish root *nant- meaning "river" or from the pre-Celtic root *nanto meaning "valley".
Or from Amnites , another tribe name possibly meaning "men of the river".
Latinized from Κονδηούινκον (Kondēoúinkon) and Κονδιούινκον (Kondioúinkon).
