I don't think it's Asian sounding. If it was/is, who cares? I don't care for it - I don't think it would age well. I pronounce it as SHAY-la. I've never it it pronounced as SHEE-la.

Delilah (the radio person..*can't think of the name for it*) has a daughter named Shayla. I always like it when she says it, but I don't really think it would age well because I can't see a 45-year-old named Shayla. Anyway, to answer your question, it doesn't sound Asian.-Seda*
