Oh, dear. Maybe I am, too--because from what I see, she's never once doubted the legitimacy of the name Marielle. She's a pretty bright kid, that Adelle--what she said is that it looks tryndee, not that it necessarily is.
...As another example, say I go to Adelle and I ask her, "What do you think of the name Galaxy?" If her response is, "I think it sounds like someone parents watched too much sci-fi," and I didn't get the name from a sci-fi show (but instead from the oh-so-beautiful heavens above), it doesn't mean she's somehow dissing me. It means that she has a legitimate observation about the name which other people, who won't know my so-very-deep connection with the name, may also have. In which case, I should politely reply, "Thanks for your opinion! I'm actually digging it because...", rather than patronize her for not knowing my history with the name Galaxy.
...Or, more succinctly? Don't take things so personally.
