Oh, dear. Maybe I am, too--because from what I see, she's never once doubted the legitimacy of the name Marielle. She's a pretty bright kid, that Adelle--what she said is that it looks tryndee, not that it necessarily is.

If her response is, "I think it sounds like someone parents watched too much sci-fi," and I didn't get the name from a sci-fi show (but instead from the oh-so-beautiful heavens above), it doesn't mean she's somehow dissing me. It means that she has a legitimate observation about the name which other people, who won't know my so-very-deep connection with the name, may also have. In which case, I should politely reply, "Thanks for your opinion! I'm actually digging it because...", rather than patronize her for not knowing my history with the name Galaxy.
