[Opinions] Kohl
FYI
a friend of mine just had a baby boy. they named him Kohlton, Kohl for short.I like the name Kohl but I am not personally crazy about Kohlton. They wanted a more formal first name and then a nn for it. So that's thier pick. I've read some of your replies and I'd have to agree, it's not the nicest name or spelling. Especially with the reference to the store. But to each thier own I guess. It personally reminds me of coal...for my coal burning stove in the winter. Thought I'd throw it out there for those who might like the name.

Kohl reminds me of the dept store, Kohl's. Kohlton just looks like an illiterate version of Colton, honestly. :-/

I don't like this name at all.

There was a regular poster at another name board I used to belong to who had a son named Kohl. It grew on me after knowing her away. It does still remind me of the discount department store though.

Eyeliner!Kohl is eyeliner in my world. Kohlton is pretty dreadful in any world. How could Colton not have been trendy enough? :-/

I love different spellings for that name! I like Kohl, but it does remind me of the store, so I would use Cohl instead. Also, I knew a lady with this last name and she spelled it: Koehl. I think something like that would be cute too!

Kohl is a last name from where I'm from Alabama I had some friends with the last name Kohl

Kohlton is ridiculously ugly. Kohl actually would've been fine by itself. Kohl is an actual German surname. Kohlton is just some kre8tyvely spelled name; there's hardly anything "formal" about it.

I love the store Kohls and when I first heard of one I liked Kohl as a boys FN but I don't like it that much any more and Kohlton is really odd. Oh well, I guess his parents can always relate to the store when people want to know how to spell his name.
What's his MN?

his middle name is Joseph, after his father.
LOL about the store name.

I don't like Kohl or Kohlton, which looks false and juvenile to me. Cole and Coleman / Nicholas would work, but Cole (or Kohl, if they really must) on its own would be ideal.Array

When I first saw Kohl, like Silvie, I thought of eyeliner. It's really not my style. Cole would be a little better, IMO but I'm not exactly crazy about Cole either.

Kohl is German for cabbage, so... I don't think I could talk to the poor child without stifling a laugh.

Colton / Cole would be sorta okay, but Kohlton / Kohl is pretty terrible, all things considered.

Kohl is a substance used for eyeliner. Personally, I don't see the appeal for it as a name, although it might be cool in a goth novel. I strongly dislike Kohlton.
