[Opinions] Yardena
Like many people here, I have a soft spot for Hebrew names. I've come across Yardena reading an Israeli novel. It's a variant of Jordan/Jordana. I think it adds an interesting twist to a name that's becoming faddish. Yardena is really growing on me, but I have 2 questions: 1) how would you pronounce it? I prefer it pronounced Yar-deh-nuh rather than Yar-dee-nuh. 2) In an English-speaking context, does it sound too much like "yard"?

Made me think of lavender, and I asked myself why-answer, Yardley's English Lavender!(soap, talcum...)
No, don't really like it, sorry.

For some reason it makes me think of fabric - perhaps, alas, because it's traditionally been sold by the yard? *shrugs*
Yardena doesn't really do anything for me (I prefer Jordana or the not-yet-databased Giordana, pronounced the same way as Jordana). But when it comes to girls' names, it's most certainly better than Jordan on a girl, which I despise.
