Layla Ainsley is a rambunctious 6 year old from Denver, Colorado. Her parents died about a year ago in a car crash during a blizzard, but Layla has pushed through the hardship in a way most young children could not have managed. She is a little bit short for her age, but makes up for size in personality. Layla also has strawberry-blonde hair and honey colored eyes. She has minor ADHD, but it does not greatly effect her lifesyle.

Sophie Kirima is 4 and from an Alaskan fishing villiage. Her parents passed away during a boating accident when she was 2. Since then she has been raised mainly by her 15 year old brother, Joseph Nanuk. Sophie is quiet and shy. She has traditional Native American features and short, black hair. Her eyes are large and dark brown.

Joseph Nanuk is Sophie's 15 year old brother. He did not want to be parted with his sister in any way. He has been an extremely good father figure to her, but at times it can be very difficult for him. He is reserved and kind, yet very shy, like Sophie. He is tall and lean with black hair and eyes like his sister.

Annora Hui "Anna" is a 10 year old girl from a very remote villiage in central China. She is petite and strikingly pretty. She has shoulder-length black hair and large oriental blue eyes. Anna has demonstrated remarkable musical skills at the piano and the violin, and will perhaps be skilled at other instruments available to her after the adoption. She is very kind and is almost always smiling. Her mother died during childbirth and her father passed away due to disease. Anna has been in an orphanage for about a year.

Hinrik Pétur is a 9 year old boy from Iceland. He is energetic and strong and an all-around good natured boy. Hinrik has a dog (a large, hairy, gentle mutt) named Olaf and takes extremely good care of him. He has moderate autism, but is well behaved and kind. He has never known either of his parents.
