[Opinions] Re: Annunziata and Paolo
Annunziata is on my long list of names. Love it! It's so over the top that it's cool. I suppose Nunzi is out as a nn -- too similar to an infamous political group? But you could still use Annunziata as a fn. The nn Annie is easily attained. Your list is delightful. My favorite combination is Damaris Annunziata. Paolo / Paola is great. The "pow" sound always makes me smile. Paolo Dmitri, Paolo Constantine and Paolo Livius are my favorites from your list. By the way, don't worry about Leopold. I would think that reminding people of a historic figure is a plus in a name, not a minus, unless the historic figure did something awful. Personally, Leopold reminds me of the Bugs Bunny cartoon where Bugs, dressed in a tuxedo jacket, walks to the front of an orchestra. Hushed whispers of "Leopold!" are heard. It's a reference to Mr. Stokowski (sp?). It's very cute. The other thing that comes to mind is Queen Victoria's son, but that's even more obscure. I love the name Leopold, but I don't like the way it sounds next to Paolo.

Yeah, Leopold did something awfulBelieve me, I'm totally for honoring historical figures in names (being the history-obsessed girl I am), but King Leopold or Belgium killed millions upon imperialism of the Congo. That's why I feel I can't use it. I guess it'll have to go alongside Antoinette with names I love but can't use. =[

But...there were lots of Leopolds! And Marie Antoinette's real name was Maria Antonia! It was only when she moved to France that they changed the most common transcription of her name! Are you going to say you can't use any female form of Anthony?Lots of Leopolds, going back hundreds and hundreds of years! Even before the Renaissance they went back hundreds and hundreds of years! Will you let one spoil everything?
