Gianni or Gianna may work. You didn't list Gianna, but I love the trad Italian way of making a female diminutive.

What do you mean I didn't list "Gianna"? That's the full name: Gianna Albertine. I am asking for help with the spelling for the nickname, either Gianni or Johnnie, since she will be named after my father, John Albert.

My guess would be that she meant Gianina, which btw is really cute.
