What do you think of
Kimberly? I kind of like it, because it makes me think of the African diamond town,
Kimberley, which is also the spelling I prefer. So
Kimberly and
Kimberley always make me think of diamonds.
I really dislike the nicknames
Kim and
Kimmy, though. Do you think people would automatically call her that?
Is it too dated to the 60s? I'm worried because it doesn't seem to go back in popularity. It even rose from 2006 to 2007 which I find very weird. Any explanations for
Kimberly's staying power?
Kimberly or
Kimberley?
How many girls with the name do you know and how do they spell it? Do they go by a nickname or by their full name? Do you know their middle names?
Do you think it will continue to rise and even make the top 20 anytime soon? I think it's popularity is weird because it feels about as dated as
Jodie or
Tracy yet it doesn't go back in popularity but has been staying in the top 100 just like a classic name (
Katherine etc). Someone suggested many immigrants naming daughters
Kimberly because they just want an English name but don't really have a feeling for what is fashionable. But then I wonder why
Tiffany etc fell so quickly. Or is it because
Kim is also a common name in some Asian countries so it is favored by Asian immigrants (this is just speculation but do you happen to know?)
