[Opinions] Re: Valeriy?
in reply to a message by Lea M
I really like it. One day I thought to myself, Valerie sounds really masculine, and I like the sound of it for a boy. Thus, I like Valeriy and Valère. I like the spelling Valery better though. Not so sure about Valeriy Anatoliy though, just because they look the same at the end. The sound being the same at the end doesn't bother me. I don't think I like Val as a nn for a guy. Don't they have some cool Russian nickname for Valeriy. With a -sya at the end? :)

I've never seen one with a -sya at the end, but I don't doubt that one exists. The one besides Val that I saw is Valeroshka, which I thought was adorable.

OhBy -sya, I meant just -ya. Or possibly -tya. Wasn't thinking when I posted that. :)Valeroshka is quite adorable!

There is ...There's Vasya, Vaska. Not sure if there's any others, but you could make up Vasha if there isn't :-)

I thought Vasya was for Vasiliy...Vasha is adorable, though, as are Pasha, Yasha, and Arkasha!

Yes (m) ETA... but as all nicknames they can be used for both. I looked it up and there are quite a few people named Vasha:-), but they seem to be female:-(But, I've found Vali as a nn!In Croatia these nicknames are also used:
Lero, Vajo, Vajkan, Vale, Valo, Valek, Valeta, Valko (+ full names Valerije and Valerij)
