I was watching TV yesterday about unusual roadside attractions. There was a woman (late 50's, early 60's) named
Leila. She pronounced her name lee-EYE-la. That's certainly odd (at least it is to me).
Have any of you ever heard of that pronunciation?
Also, in my local obits there was a woman who died at the age of 83 named
Leila. I had always understood the name to be pronounced LAY-la or even LEE-la so now I'm wondering how she pronounced her name as well.
I love
Leila and this is my main problem with it.
