[Opinions] Venetia ?
This name had a certain vogue in Britain early last century among the "upper classes" - Lady Venetia Stanley was a well-known example in the 1920s.
Although it's the Italian name for Venice, I've seen it described as a Latinate form of Gwyneth, used occasionally since the Middle Ages.
Time for a comback or best consigned to the atlas?

Eh... The first thing that came to mind was venetian blinds... It's nice in an ancient Roman kind of way, like Lucretia.

Btw, in Italian Venice is VeneZia, not Venetia (and neither would be used as a name for a person). Venetia might be the Latin form. I find it a bit tacky, to tell the truth.

I like Venetia. I think it sounds pretty. I don't really know about its British history, but I know here in America it was an African American given name for a very long time. I don't know that it is necessarily ready for a comeback, nor do I think it should be kept to the atlas. I do think that used in small doses it can pack a real punch. If you like it, use it!
