I think if Jasper is too Twilight associated, then Jesper would be too - they're so close. Also I think people would get confused and constantly call him Jasper.
I also think Jess is a really girly name.
Basically, I would say just go for Jasper (which I LOVE by the way!)

Well I have to disagree. Considering Jesse is one of my favorite boys names... Jess too, is all boy to me
