I think they might've been foreign, maybe from the Philippines or somewhere around there.

Well the Dad was English, so maybe he chose the names!
Also I've found that foreign people quite often choose old fashioned English names. I know a few Chinese people at Uni who have chosen English names as well as their original names. They're called Angela and Derek which I think are pretty old fashioned for 20-year-olds!
