Why name a child after something you'd shake out of your shoe?

I remember 1 woman at church due in Dec. 1 year and named Mary-Lou was joking about naming the child Holly-Lou... :-P Went w/ a real name that her son liked... Boring name, but at least it was sensible and ages ok.
