[Opinions] Re: Linda

I like it fine, but it's the name of my stepmother, and she's...well, never mind her.

I have a very positive family association with Linda, because it's the name of my older sister (actually my half-sister, but I never think of her that way) and she's a really wonderful person. I don't think that just because she's my sister because I have two other (full) sisters, and while I love both of them, I see their faults and don't think that they are as great a person as Linda is.
The fact that I've always thought that she is so great of a person never really made me like her name, though, perhaps just due to its datedness and the fact that she herself doesn't like it. My mother, of course, just loved it. But I got to thinking of her and got to thinking of her name and started wondering if she doesn't have a nice name after all and maybe we all just dismissed her name because it's out of style (same as mine) so that's why I made the post.
Linda has suffered for the past few years from trigeminal neuralgia, probably the most painful non-fatal disease there is, and she had surgery for it last year, which I heard solved the problem, but I haven't talked to her in so long, since before she had the surgery, and now I feel very emotional and I'm going to call Linda tonight (just recently got her number) and check on her and tell her that I like her name!
Sorry for the OT ramble, I just feel sentimental and nostalgic.

That's okay. I don't mind rambling. ;)
I like my stepmother, but she has problems. I'm the type of person who has a hard time liking a name if I know a bearer who kind of "taints" it, even though I should get past that. But that's just me.

Agree with tainting. I don't like the very popular "Isabelle", however it's spelled, due to a personal connection with a disliked Isabelle.
I hate Laura, which almost everyone thinks is beautiful, because of a Laura I disliked intensely.
